چکیده

Erd˝ os introduced the notion of abelian square in a 1961 paper [1]: Definition 1. A word w is an abelian square if there exist two words s and t such that w = st and t is a permutation of s. Maxime Crochemore asked if the language of non-abelian squares is context-free. In this note, we answer his question. Let Σ = {0, 1} be the alphabet in this context. Let L denote the language of all words that are not abelian squares over Σ. Our goal is to prove the following: Theorem 2. L is not context-free.

ON THE GROUPS WITH THE PARTICULAR NON-COMMUTING GRAPHS

Let $G$ be a non-abelian finite group. In this paper, we prove that $Gamma(G)$ is $K_4$-free if and only if $G cong A times P$, where $A$ is an abelian group, $P$ is a $2$-group and $G/Z(G) cong mathbb{ Z}_2 times mathbb{Z}_2$. Also, we show that $Gamma(G)$ is $K_{1,3}$-free if and only if $G cong {mathbb{S}}_3,~D_8$ or $Q_8$.

On some generalizations of abelian power avoidability

We prove that 2-abelian-cubes are avoidable over a binary alphabet and that 3-abelian-squares are avoidable over a ternary alphabet, answering positively to two questions of Karhumäki et al.. We also show the existence of infinite additive-cube-free words on several ternary alphabets. To achieve this, we give sufficient conditions for a morphism to be k-abelian-n-power-free (resp. additive-n-po...

Non-Abelian Sequenceable Groups Involving ?-Covers

A non-abelian finite group is called sequenceable if for some positive integer , is -generated ( ) and there exist integers such that every element of is a term of the -step generalized Fibonacci sequence , , , . A remarkable application of this definition may be find on the study of random covers in the cryptography. The 2-step generalized sequences for the dihedral groups studi...

Reflections on Discriminating Groups

Here we continue the study of discriminating groups as introduced by Baumslag, Myasnikov and Remeslennikov in [7]. First we give examples of finitely generated groups which are discriminating but not trivially discriminating, in the sense that they do not embed their direct squares, and then we show how to generalize these examples. In the opposite direction we show that if F is a non-abelian f...

Abelian Primitive Words

We investigate Abelian primitive words, which are words that are not Abelian powers. We show the set of Abelian primitive words is not context-free. We can determine whether a word is Abelian primitive in linear time. Also different from classical primitive words, we find that a word may have more than one Abelian root. We also consider enumeration of Abelian primitive words.
